Casting Phone Camera to Chromecast with both iPhone and Android

Hello!

We are a small business that needs to support employees casting their phone cameras to a chromecast device - some employees have iOS and some have Android.  On iOS, we have found some compatible third-party apps to use (but welcome suggestions), but have struggled to find a good solution for Android.  Is there an obvious method to cast a live camera feed from employee phones on a shared Chromecast device that we are missing?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you!

Hi YDCstudio,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. Chromecast devices are designed for media and entertainment purposes. Older versions are bound to casting functions and screen mirroring only, unlike the newer ones with Google TV. I haven’t encountered any installable camera app on a Chromecast with Google TV, which is understandable since it doesn’t have the hardware for it (no camera). For casting, that depends on the app now if it’s a cast-enabled camera app. We don’t have a Google-developed camera app that is cast-enabled, and we can’t recommend any third-party apps either. I suggest you do the trial-and-error approach or read through the descriptions of these camera apps to see if they have casting functions.

I hope this answers your questions. Let us know if you still have other concerns.

Thanks,

Kimy
