Chrome cast with Google tv casting from phne issues

I have a Chromecast with Google tv and anytime I use a phone to cast any app (YouTube, Netflix, Hulu ect) I will tell app to connect to chrome cast and chrome cast will default to it's own home screen. I have to tell phone to cast again for it to go into hat app. Then I have to disconnect and reconnect again for it to actually play the show I want from my phone. Then if it's a tv series like on Netflix and it's set to auto play in Netflix app, it will never auto play on the chrome cast. How do I fix this?

Hey there Akiva279,

Welcome to the Chromecast Community Forum! This issue may be related to the CEC settings on your TV. Just to be sure, what model of TV do you have? For example, my Vizio TV has a Power Mode which disables some of my HDMI-CEC interactions for the sake of saving power. I would double-check your settings to make sure no power-saving mode is enabled, as well as you are using the proper HDMI outlet for HDMI-CEC.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Thankyou for the responses. Yes this is a continued issue. It's an older Samsung tv not sure of the model but it's at least 8 years old and I have more details. It will autoplay if I use the remote to access a streaming service. But if I access a streaming service from my phone and cast it that way I have to manually start each episode.

I checked and it is connected to HDMI cec

Hey there Akiva279,

No problem! Would you double-check your Samsung TV's settings to make sure that Energy Saving is disabled? Here is an article by Samsung on how to do that.

I look forward to your response!

Best regards,
Jeran
