Chromecast 4K and Yamaha RX-A2A Connection Issue

My problem is that my Yamaha RX-A2A receiver and Chromecast seem to be having a problem connecting with each other. I have a cable box (Xfinity) on HDMI1, Fire TV 4K Stick on HDMI2 and Chromecast on HDMI3  connected to the Yamaha RX-A2A receiver. Then the receiver is connected to my LG OLED TV via an HDMI cable. I am able to switch between the cable box and Fire TV Stick without any issue, but when I switch to the Chromecast, there is either a lag of from 30 seconds to a couple of minutes, or sometimes no connection at all. If I keep changing inputs from cable box HDMI1  to Chromecast HDMI3 back and forth a few times, sometimes it will get the connection, sometimes it just takes waiting. I have tried power off and on, unplugging, and even changing the devices to different HDMI inputs on the receiver to no avail. The Chromecast simply does not want to connect in the normal time (couple of seconds) like the cable box and Fire TV stick. I have CEC turned off. (I've tried it ON, but still has the same problem.)

Anyone have any ideas on what to do to fix this situation?

Thanks.

Hey all! @sbudaj, your problems are very recognizable to me and many others in communities and newsgroups. Therefor I doubt if I should buy the new Google TV 4K with Chromecast streaming. Among other functions I want to mirror my iPad and iphone screen and sound. Trusting it to work

What is needed for that? Without subscription (for life) Chromecast Streaming, for this is included in Google TV 4K

Hi folks,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. We’re sorry for the delay in response. Let’s isolate the issue by testing if the Chromecast device is working as intended. Let’s use the process of elimination approach. Try to connect the Chromecast directly to the TV’s HDMI port. If the issue persists, then we can safely say that the device has a slow processing issue, and we’ll take it from there by troubleshooting it or until we verify if there really is a hardware failure. If it works fine when connected directly to the TV, then this extended process with the participation of other devices makes the process slower. This will give us a clear view of what’s going on.

As for screen mirroring, we use the Google Home App. This works well with most Android smartphones and tablets. Unfortunately, iOS devices' restrictions prevent the Google Home App from maximizing its features, including screen mirroring. This makes iOS devices rely on third-party apps for screen mirroring on Chromecast devices. And most of these apps require a subscription. I hope this sheds some light on the situation.

Keep us posted on your concerns.

Thanks,

Kimy

I believe I have found the problem and solution. My Chromecast was "going to sleep" and my Yamaha Receiver thought there was nothing connected to the HDMI input when I switched to the Chromecast. Sometimes, if I would remember, I would hit the Home key on the Chromecast before changing to the HDMI input and that would work, but not always. My solution, however, was to go into Developer Mode on the Chromecast and set it to never go to sleep. That completely solved the problem. Now, when I go to the HDMI input on my Yamaha Receiver, it always shows the Chromecast Home Screen. Hope this helps others. (Maybe Google should set the default to have the Chromecast not go to sleep, if that would be possible.)
