Chromecast 4k voice assistant not working

Got the Chromecast with Google TV (4K) this morning.

Set it up correctly but for some reason  the Assistant Button is not working.

When I hold it, I see "Hold the assistant button down and talk".

When I talk into it, nothing happens.

What I see is  "Ask me a question, or try a suggestion".

I did the factory reset at least 3-4 times.

 

After a few seconds or minutes, I hear "hmm, something went wrong, try again in a few seconds" or "there's a glitch, try again in a few seconds".

What should I do?

Should I return the device? Is the device defective?

I confirm this issue just started today. Both of my Chromecast 4k devices  are unable to use voice on the assistant button. I also factory reset them.  I also paired my phone to the Chromecast using the digital button on my phone screen, and it still failed. Please fix this issue or roll back version.

Same here! good to know it's not a problem on my end. Did a factory reset on the Chromecast 4k, on the controller (removed batteries, pressed home + back, upgraded the controller software, etc.) and then installed the Google TV app on my phone thinking that the issue was related to the controller. Tried using the voice feature on the app from the virtual controller to no avail, however with this test I could discard that the issue was the controller.

I opened a support ticket w/ google yesterday and described the issue.  Their technician said I was the first to report anything.  Lets see if they find a fix.

This is the exact same problem I'm also facing since yesterday. Reading all these queries here, it seems like it's a software glitch caused by a system or may be by Central server update ..

Same here. Spoke with Google customer  support they said they have been receiving complaints all day. The issue is from their end

I have exactly the same issue on my Google Chromecast HD.. I speak to it and nothing happens.. I even tried the resetting the remote and also using the Google TV app - Hopefully someone from Google will sort this as clearly the fault is with them.. otherwise my brand new Chromecast ends up in the bin.. Sorry Google but at least my Amazon Devices are a a lot more responsive

I am also having this problem. What I know is it's not the remote, because the tv remote on my phone didn't work either. On some resets it will work once. It also worked once when I deleted the device from my Google home and added it again.

Exactly the same issue here on my Chromecast 4k since yesterday, dongle restart, remote reset, factory reset, goggle home on my phone as remote. And nothing. The voice assistant only says after a while “there’s a glitch” or something’s wrong” try again in a few seconds.

I’m getting the same since yesterday. New Sony tv only 2 weeks ago. Several reboots, factory reset. No joy with remote or iPhone app.

I am having the exact same problem with my Chromecast. Tried factory reset. Tried connecting through phone hotspot. Glad to see that it seems to be an issue on Google's end and will hopefully be resolved soon.

Confirmed, both my 4k devices are working normally as of Thursday.  Thanks Google, I was able to karaoke w/ the family!!

I still have a problem. It worked around 2 hours after unboxing and first installation. Since 2 days my Chromecast HD says, that assistent is not available for my profile. Nest and mobile device work fine.

I would make a new post.  The original issue this thread was concerning had no error message.  You are having a different issue.

@Dreadik, thanks for posting here. In this thread, users are experiencing issues wherein the voice command that the user delivered is either recognized and written on the TV screen but the Google Assistant did not react, or the voice command itself is not recognized and was not written on the TV screen as if it’s still waiting for the user to talk. Is this the same concern that you have?

My problem was, that Cromecast was set to "app only" mode. In that case the assistent does not work. I found it on some google site.
