Chromecast Audio Reset issue

JeffN512
Community Member

I have three Chromecast Audio devices with two that are connected to two different stereo systems with enough speakers to play throughout almost all of the house. My third one typically gets used with a JBL Charge 4 that I can locate anywhere I have a power receptacle and is within range of the Wi-Fi signal. It has worked perfectly in the recent past. I recently made the mistake of trying to rename the device by resetting it. Now I can get the iOS Home app to see the device, but I cannot hear the sound to continue the setup.

I have been using the JBL Charge 4 as a Bluetooth speaker too and it works perfectly, so I think should hear the sound.

What should I do to attempt to solve the issue?

🙏

Hey there JeffN512,

I'm sorry to hear your Chromecast Audio is being stubborn! These issues can be a bit tricky to resolve, so I'd be happy to help you out. The first thing I would check is this article on setting up your Chromecast Audio. On iOS devices, there are quite a few steps to make sure everything works properly.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Thank you for trying to help Jeran. Unfortuantely, the article did not help other than to confirm that I was attempting to set up the correct device.

With a appropriate amount of certainty, I feel I am doing everything exactly I I should, but I cannot hear the sound and at that point I have done all I can do. Again, I completely reset the device waiting until the light flashed rapidly and turned blue-grey, then went through the setup process using the Google Home app on an Apple 13 with iOS recently updated to 16.1.1, but that had the previous iOS on previous attempts to setup the Chromecast Audio device. In that process, I wait until the device is found, click next but do not hear the sound.

I am currently and constantIy using two other Chromecast Audio devices on my usual Wi-Fi network flawlessly, but am completely stuck trying to get this device working again. This connection has been used well in the past. This connection has been used well in the past.
