Chromecast Remote

Remote control stopped working. Light/indicator stays ON (illuminated) even after removing/replacing the batteries.

Do I need a new remote?

Thanks for visiting the Community. 

Since this thread hasn't had activity in a while, we're going to close it to keep content fresh.

We hope you were able to get the help you need but if you're still having trouble, please see the steps listed below:

 

  • Check for pending remote software updates. Go to Settings > Remotes and Accessories > Remote update > Continue. The remote may briefly disconnect during the software update.
  • Forget the Chromecast Voice Remote. Go to  Settings > Remotes and Accessories > Chromecast Remote > Forget.
  • Pair the remote. Go to  Settings > Remotes and Accessories > Pair remote or accessory and follow the instructions on the TV.
    Note: If applicable, you may also press the button on the Chromecast device for 1 second for the pairing to start.
  • If the steps above don't work, perform a factory reset on your Chromecast Voice Remote and Chromecast dongle.
