Chromecast google tv - factory reset

Hello

Brand new device. At startup I got to the point where I couldn't connect to WiFi (maybe due 2,4Ghz). AFter that I wanted to perform factory reset from the device.

 

Led status: solid white for 15s, dark for 1s, orange for 5s and so on, so on

Problem: can't factory reset the device with the button. I hold the button for a long time and I have still the same blinking sequence as described. No orange flashing, nothing like that.

ALso I don't see device in the Home app. 

Also the sequence on the TV set:  it goes from Google logo to remote picture in such sequence

 

Questions:

1. What should I do?

2. Is the device busted?

 

I spent significant time reading the forums, watching videos not finding the solution

Thanks for reaching out and for providing detailed information of the issue. Please try the steps listed below:

 

  1. Uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app.
  2. Reboot your Chromecast.
  3. Reboot your Wi-Fi router.
  4. Reboot your mobile phone.
  5. Move the devices closer to each other. Make sure it is within 15 to 20 feet of the setup device and the Wi-Fi router
  6. Plug in the Chromecast into a different HDMI port on your TV.
  7. Try to connect it to the 5GHz band for a better performance.
  8. Manually connect to the Chromecast SSID. Here's how: go to the phone settings > Open Wi-Fi and connect to the Chromecast SSID (Example: Chromecast1234, Living Room TV, Bedroom TV, etc.) > Go to the Google Home app and try to set it up again.
  9. Try to do another factory reset on your Chromecast. Here's a guide: How to factory reset your Chromecast.

Hi

So this device is annoying.

I managed to overcome some of the issues by turning off the 2.4GHz network. 

I managed to configure the device to the pointwhere  I fail to connect to WiFi at the step when you have to enter WiFi password. Device does not connect to the wifi. I do all the tips from the troubleshooting and those do nothing.

Any tips?

Hello Bartek,

 

Thanks for getting back to us and for trying the suggested steps. To isolate the issue, could you please try to set up your Chromecast with Google TV using a mobile hotspot? If it does connect to the hotspot, then the issue will be on your Wi-Fi network.

after kast failure I do nit manage to factory reset it. Also cant find it

Hey there bartek7,

 

Here are the two ways you can use to factory reset your Chromecast with Google TV, feel free to try either option:

 

With the Chromecast Voice Remote

  1. In the upper right of your TV screen, select your profile and then Settings .
  2. Select System and then About and then Factory Reset.

From the Chromecast device

  1. While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV and powered, press then hold the button on the back of the Chromecast. The LED should start to blink yellow.
  2. When the LED light turns solid white, release the button, and the Chromecast should then reset.

Ye well. Grom the menu it doesnt work cuz I wasnt able to config the device. From the device it also doesnt work. Any idea why?

That is strange, are you able to confirm if the device is getting any power by checking the LED light on the Chromecast device? What color is the LED light?
