Chromecast is connecred to Wifi, but not found

MissMenace

I have already tried to factory restart twice, but my Chromecast is connected to my WiFi, I can see it on my connected devices on my router. It is just not found. I don't know how to check to see if my Chromecast is up to date, but my Home app is fully up to date.

Help!

Same here! All of a sudden, Chromecast is not appearing on any device since 2-3 days ago.

I've restarted and relocated router multiple times, factory reset and reconnected Chromecast to wifi and different networks multiple times, reset wifi connections on both macbook and iphone multiple times, reinstalled Google Home app multiple times. No idea what else to do. During each setup, the Chromecast connects to the wifi no problem, but then shortly afterwards shows on Google Home app as "Disconnected device".

HUH?!

Hey there folks,

These connection issues can be pretty tricky since there are so many factors involved. The first thing I would recommend is following the steps listed in this article. Go ahead and skip the steps you've already tried. If the problem persists, please let me know what model of Chromecast you have.

I look forward to your responses, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know.

Best regards,
Jeran

Figured it out - modem hard reset was the solution. The 2.4 and 5G bands glitched so with a hard restart, Chromecast connected fine and able to be detected again!

How do I do that?

Hey there Blevins3290,

These steps should apply to most, if not all, modems:

  1. Unplug the power and Ethernet cables from the modem. Some modems have backup batteries that need to be removed too.
  2. Wait 2-3 minutes for the modem to fully power off. All the lights on the modem should be off.
  3. Reconnect the power and Ethernet cables to the modem.
  4. Wait for the Internet light to turn solid, then check if the internet is working properly.

Let us know if that helps you out as well.

Best regards,
Jeran
