Figured it out - modem hard reset was the solution. The 2.4 and 5G bands glitched so with a hard restart, Chromecast connected fine and able to be detected again!

Same here! All of a sudden, Chromecast is not appearing on any device since 2-3 days ago.I've restarted and relocated router multiple times, factory reset and reconnected Chromecast to wifi and different networks multiple times, reset wifi connection...
