Chromecast not connecting to Wi-Fi properly

Anddd I'm back again.

Same issue ongoing - previous thread below where advice didn't provide a solution.

https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Chromecast/Chromecast-sets-up-but-instantly-shows-quot-Discon...

After a few weeks of no issues at all, the Chromecast is turning on all OK but simply does not connect to my WiFi. I've reset and repositioned my modem various times, ensured all the settings including band steering and AP isolation are correct. My ISP Tech Support have walked my through troubleshooting with no success. I've also hard factory reset the Chromecast multiple times and deleted/reinstalled Google Home app on my iPhone multiple times (LAN all fine).

The Chromecast definitely connects to my 2.4GHz WiFi band during the set-up, but as soon as I've completed this and skipped the final tutorial, the Chromecast home screen doesn't show the PIN or WiFi network in top right of screen. The device appears in my Google Home but says "Disconnected device" as soon as I select it.

My 2.4GHz speed does fluctuate between 3mbps and 12mbps (whilst 5G consistently 50-60mbps). Could this be the problem child?

Jeran in my previous thread suggested the Chromecast needs to be powered by wall outlet and not TV USB. I don't see how this is the issue as the device has been working completely fine using TV USB for the last 6 months.

I'm definitely close to buying the new Chromecast HD so it can connect to a 5G band, but I just don't understand why my current Chromecast has this issue!

Help!

EDIT: I have also tried the Chromecast on a couple of other TVs on other WiFi networks at friends/family homes. Zero issue. Which leads me to believe it's my home ISP/modem. But I'm stuck on what on earth the problem could be.

Hi lataliana,

Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. Did you see the Ambient mode (screensaver) on the TV after the setup? If so, then this could be network-related. You’ve tested it on another network, and it works fine. You can use a mobile hotspot from another phone to isolate it. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kimy
