Chromecast remote won't pair

My dog attacked my Chromecast remote, leaving it unusable.  I purchased a new Chromecast remote (from the Google Store) and it will not pair with my TV.  Chromecast works with the app on my Android phone, so I believe that the problem is strictly with the new remote.  I have tried the troubleshooting suggestions, but now I am stuck.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey there ScotNorris,

 

I'm sorry to hear about the fate of your previous remote! I'd be happy to help you get that new Chromecast Voice Remote paired up. Let me ask you this, what state is the LED light on the Chromecast Voice Remote when you try to pair it? The LED should pulse slowly when the device is ready to pair up. If the LED is doing something else, we can try a few steps to resolve the issue.

 

On a side note, also make sure that you use store-bought AAA 1.5 V alkaline batteries with the remote.

Jeran,

When I turn on the TV the LED light on the remote lights up.  When i hold down the Home button and the Return button simultaneously the LED light pulses for a few seconds then it goes off and the steady LED light comes back on.

 I installed fresh AAA store bought batteries

It still doesn't work.

Hey ScotNorris,

 

No problem, would you be able to factory reset that Chromecast Voice Remote? That may help resolve the connection issue. On a side note, you can use your phone as a Google TV remote if you need access to the Chromecast.

Jaren,

It is still not working.  I have been using my phone as a remote, but would like to get the new remote to function.  I have tried it on two different TV's but it won't pair with either of them.

That is pretty strange. At this point, I'd recommend that you reach out to Chromecast Support. They would have more tools to look into this issue and help figure this out. You are able to talk with them via phone call or online chat once you get past the initial prompt.
