Chromecast stoped turning on

KiwiF1Fan
Community Member

My Chromecast has stopped turning on. It turns on the TV but the TV says no connected device. The only way I can turn on my Chromecast is to remove the power and restart it.

This is a new problem. We have three Chromecasts on, three TVs and in two separate houses (networks). All started behaving this way a couple of weeks ago. I have updated the firmware, factory reset, and switched between TVs and networks, but the same issue keeps reoccurring. I've searched online and used Google Help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi KiwiF1Fan,

Does it get stuck on the "G" Google logo, or is the screen just black or showing no signal?

Try these steps:
TV has no signal or only shows a black screen - Chromecast Help

Hi - Thanks for responding. It gets stuck on the blank screen with a solid white light. I have to remove the power and then it turns on with the G coming up first. I tried those steps before I reached out.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks

Andrew

I'm having the same problem, it only recently started, it happens about every second time I turn the TV on, once I disconnect the power and reconnect the power it turns on. It is just a pain to have to remove the power so often.

HI folks,

Appreciate the help here, davidking.

KiwiF1Fan and becsta. Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. What Chromecast device are we working on? Are you still using the original power cord that came with the device? If so, could you check and make sure that the power adapter isn't damaged.

I look forward to your responses.

Regards,

Juni

Hi Juni - two of mine are only two months old and all three have original cords.

Two are 4k with Google TV and one is standard HD.

Thank you for helping.

Hi Juni

My Chromecast is approx a year old. Yes I am using the original power cord, and nothing is damaged, nothing has changed with mine it just suddenly started saying it wasn't connected. Another thing I have noticed is that when I cast from my phone (Galaxy S22) or tablet (Galaxy tab S8) they have started to disconnect as well. I cast for either of these when I am doing my workout so I can see the program on my TV. This has never happened before either.

I have also filled out the form.

I wanted to add I have had a Chromecast that was working wonderfully until a recent update about a month ago. After some time has passed after turning the TV off, I will come back to the TV later in the day or in the morning the next day and get "no signal" despite the Chromecast device having the white ON light.

My Chromecast is connected to a Yamaha sound bar which is connected to an LG 55 inch from 2022. Hitting any button on the Chromecast remote wakes the TV, but I end up seeing a "No signal" message from my TV.

This has been a frustrating experience because I have to power off and back on the Chromecast 1-2X a day. Could I please have the opportunity to contact the developers? I'm happy to share as much information as possible about my setup because I think this problem is not just isolated to my situation, but is affecting others I've seen posting online.

Hi NestGem,

Thanks for the reply. Can you try to factory reset it and then set it up directly on the TV (bypassing the soundbar)? The objective is to determine control over directly connected devices. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kimy

Hi Kimy,

Thank you for replying. Unfortunately, it took way too long for anyone to reply, and I ended up purchasing a FireTV Max which has worked well.
