Chromecast stuck in the “Networking Problem”

Giuseppe88
Community Member

My Chromecast is currently stuck on a "network problem" screen and it's displaying the message in English rather than Portuguese.

I've attempted to perform a factory reset several times, and I've also experimented with booting it without a Wifi connection (router turned off), but it returns to the same screen.

I'm unable to detect the Chromecast Wi-Fi network at any point during boot. It simply doesn't appear as an available network.

I’m alreadry tried to factory reset, and when I do this shows the message that it is entering to the factory reset. But then it goes to the same screen saying “Networking Problem”.

I tried turn off the Chromecast, reset my phone, reset the Wifi, reset the television, conect the Chromecast in another television, and nothing works, the Chromecast never appear to conect in the Google Home app.

I saw other people had the same problem, and was just send a form for them to fill and nothing else was said in the chat, so I don’t no what was the resolution and how i can fix it.

I dont no what else to do, please help!

Hello Giuseppe88

Thank you for your response!

I really appreciate you letting me know the generation of your Chromecast! I see that this Chromecast is a little bit old. to provide you with the correct steps for this situation.

  • Have you changed something in your WiFi network when you moved from your house?
  • What's the version of the firmware?

In the meantime, here's a quick guide on how to factory reset your Chromecast 2nd generation:

While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV and powered, hold down the button on the side of the Chromecast. The LED should begin to blink orange. When the LED light turns solid white, release the button, and the Chromecast should then restart.

Feel free to reply to this post if you have more questions. I'll be happy to assist better.

Best regards,

Nery.

Hi Giuseppe88,

Thanks for posting in the community!

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing errors with the Chromecast. No worries; here's help! I'll need some additional information to figure this out.

  • Which Chromecast model are you using (Chromecast with Google TV, Chromecast Ultra, Chromecast 3rd gen, etc.)?
  • Have you recently made any changes to your Wi-Fi network (e.g., new router, password change)?
  • Are you experiencing these errors when trying to connect the Chromecast itself or when trying to cast content?

Once I have this information, I can share with you some steps to get your Chromecast working smoothly again. Feel free to reply to this post if you have any further questions.

Best regards,

Nery.

Hi. Its a 2nd generation Chromecast. I didn't use it for a while and in the meantime I moved to other house, so when a tried to install it again, this error happens and nothing that I tried to do to fix it helps. The error happens when I try to install the Chromecast. As I say, the Chromecast never show up in the Google Home app to configure. Also, when I restart it, the Chromecast turn on with an generic name like "Chromecast6403", and if I let it in this screen for a while, it automatically restart and show again that screen but with a new generic name like "Chromecast5879". I would really aprecciate if you could help me with my problem!

Hey!

As I said, I already tried the factory reset, and yes, I changed my wifi when I moved, but this error showed up in all wifi I tried to connect. In fact, it never connect to an Wifi cause the Chromecast got stucked in that screen error, and even I try to reconfigure, it never shows in the Google Home App (as I already said). And no, i dont no the version of the firmware. I found other people that experienced the same error in decenber 2023 (but I cant find the link again), but for them was just send a form to answer, so I couldnt see the resolution of the problem.
