Chromecast volume resets too low

yoteshowl

I have a Chromecast audio setup that includes two Google Nest screens.  There are numerous chromecasts around the home plugged into a variety of speakers.  My question is: Is there a way to make each device have a default audio volume?  Every time I restart a session with that group, several of the devices drop back to extremely low volumes and have to go in and change the volume.  Is there a way to set them at a default volume (like 25% for example).  Thanks!

Hi yoteshowl,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. I understand that before, the speaker group had that. But now, volume control needs to be done on individual speakers. I suggest you send feedback about this via the Google Home app.

Thanks,

Kimy

Yes thank you.  My issue is not that though.  It's that the speaker always resets to an extremely low volume and I have to turn it back up again.  Don't know why it doesn't have a preferred volume setting.  Weird.

Hi yoteshowl,

Thanks for the clarification. Could you try to break down the whole group by creating smaller groups and checking if the issue persists? The objective is to analyze if this is an effect in total or if a particular speaker/device is causing this in the group. If it’s a particular speaker/device, we may troubleshoot that. As of now, we are still trying to learn more based on this test. Keep us posted.

Thanks,

Kimy

Hello!  I understand the answer about group volume control, but that's not what I was trying to get at with my question.  What I don't understand is why some devices (whether it's group control or single) revert to 2 or 3% volume automatically, forcing me to have to always open the app at put the volume at a level that can be heard.  Can't each device (including the Nest Hub screen) be set at a volume and have it stay that way as the default.  Why would the default be 2 or 3% when you can't even hear it?  Thanks!
