Chromecast w/ Google tv and usb c hub power supply

I just updated to Android 12. Unfortunately, I can’t reconnect my usb c hub back with my thumb drive. Whenever I seem to reconnect the hub it seems as though my it requires more power than before. Why is this? How come it didn’t happen before? Also why doesn’t a device like this have more storage and memory for all of my streaming apps?

Hey there SogyBanjotime99,

I apologize for the late response, and thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that USB hub issue? If not, I'd be happy to help you out. What kind of USB hub are you using? According to this article, to expand your Chromecast’s storage, you’ll need a:

  • Compatible USB-C hub with a power delivery port.
  • USB-C charger (higher than 1.5A / 7.5w).
  • Portable storage device, such as a USB stick or SD card.
    • If you use a USB storage device, use USB 2.0 or greater speeds.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know.

Best regards,
Jeran

Hey there SogyBanjotime99,

There was a recent update to the Chromecast with Google TV's firmware. Would you be able to update your Chromecast and try using that power supply again?

Best regards,

Jeran

Currently using the provided power supply and there is no update available.

What do you suggest if it is showing that there is no update available?

Hey there SogyBanjotime99,

The Chromecast with Google TV firmware update should have been rolled out by now. In this case, it may be better to speak with Chromecast Support, as they would have more tools to look deeper into this issue. If you don't mind, would you be able to fill out this form to have them reach out to you via email?

Best regards,

Jeran
