I've heard that the new Chromecast works with captive portals (for example at hotels) but I'm yet to understand how the new Chromecast does this as opposed to the older versions? I mean it uses the same Google Home interface, so please explain to me how the new Chromecast plays nicely with active portals. Thank you.

Hey there wwwgoog,
Welcome to the Chromecast Community Forum! I'm sorry to say, but it's quite the opposite. Chromecast devices do not work with captive portal networks. Nest products do not work with captive portal networks, which are common in airports, hotels, internet cafes, and coffee shops. On these networks, you must sign in on a web page, and sometimes accept terms and conditions before you can connect, which there is no way to do with a Chromecast.
I hope that helps. If you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know.
Best regards,
Jeran
