Chromecast won't stay on selected resolution and framerate

I really enjoy the Chromecast with Google TV EXCEPT, there are all kinds of juddery framerate problems playing back video UNLESS I force the chromecast to run in 4k/24fps mode.  Once I force it to run in 24fps, the video-smoothing and jumpiness issues are resolved.  The problem is this:  Every few days, the chromecast has reset itself to 4k/60fps.  How can I keep the Chromecast from doing this?

By the way, the setting to have the TV "match the content" doesn't work at all -- the only way to get proper video playback is to set the device to 24fps.

Also, I'm using a Vizio OLED65-h1, if that's relevant and the Chromecast is plugged directly into a wall adapter for power, not the TV's USB port.

Thanks.

Hi iamnid,

Thanks for reaching out. Once you have configured the frame rate, it should stay and will not revert to the previous settings. Let's sort this out.

If the Chromecast with Google TV is plugged in to the TV, please plugged it on a different HDMI port on your TV. Rebooting and resetting it might also help.

If the issue persists, please try to plug it in on a different TV screen and observe the behavior.

Thanks,

Jennifer

I've determined that it does this every time.  I literally have to change the frame rate every single time I use the chromecast.  I've tried different ports with the same results.  I don't have another 4k TV to test it on.

It would be fine if the chromecast did a good job at properly outputting the framerates but it does not.  Leaving it in 4k/60 leads to very jerky motion on all video playback.  I wish the Chromecast would properly identify the framerate of the content it was playing and then output it to the TV accordingly.

Hello there,

I'm sorry for the late response. Have you tried to reset the device and check if the same issue persists? If you haven't yet, please try that and let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Jennifer

None of that made any difference. It keeps reverting to 4k/60 every time.
