Controller Draining Batteries

Biged
Community Member

Has anyone gotten any concrete answer on the issue with chromecast remote control batteries with google tv.
I'm going through this, changing 1 pair of batteries between 5 and 7 days, besides being ecologically incorrect, it's annoying.

Some answers:
Yes, I am using 1.5v Duracell alkaline batteries
There are no buttons stuck
The IR LED is not lit constantly.

Apparently there's nothing wrong with the control, just an absurd hunger for energy that doesn't make sense to me.

Will rechargeable batteries solve my problem or will I have to keep a pair always in the socket?

Well if you're using it in Brazil, a location not officially supported, it's possible that might be the issue. Maybe the way things work and use radio waves consume more power -- I don't know, just guessing. Use in an unsupported region is at one's own risk and performance and operation is not guaranteed as the product was probably not tested or approved for operation. Sorry.

Hey @Biged odd, I've had my device for more than a year and have changed my batters maybe 3 or 4 times. You must do a lot of scrolling and scrubbing which I'm sure can wear on the batteries.

Hello @GothamNY thanks for the answering! In the case of a bluetooth control, this time would be reasonable, changing batteries every 3 or 4 months. But in my case it's weekly! My use with the controller is common, I don't scrolling that much to justify excessive battery consumption. It seems to me that the controller is really defective and I couldn't find a store to buy another single one in Brazil. It seems to me that I will have to use it only as a streaming player, mirroring the smartphone or using remote control on the Google Home App. 😞

I'm afraid so. Although it doesn't make a logical sense, I believe it's not impossible that this could be the cause of the problem. Thanks for the answer.
