Ethernet adapter Keeps Dropping.

Zale

Chromecast 4k

Android phone with Google home.

LG oled A2.

Vodafone gigabox.

I recently bought the ethernet adapter for a more stale connection, even though my WiFi is good. Issue is the wired connection keeps disconnecting. All cables and equipment are brand new. Why does wired connection drop.

So everything was already up to date and I've been using the ethernet adapter all day with no signal drop so far.

It could have been just one of those things, I'll keep an eye on things and hopefully it does what it's supposed to from now on. Cheers guys 😎

Hi @Zale

The Ethernet port is a 100Mbps port. Maybe your router/modem keeps switching between 1Gbps and 100Mbps port status.

This happens sometimes, maybe worth a shot setting the LAN port to 100Mbps only if possible. 😊

I'm not sure if that's an option in my settings but I'll definitely look into it. Thx 👍🏼😎

So couldn't find anything in settings but found this on Vodafone website... "For the Gigabox modem, all 4 LAN ports are adaptive ports. Depending on what devices are connected to the port, it will support 10Mbps/100Mbps/1000Mbps automatically".

I also use a firestick ethernet adapter which has never dropped connection.

So I'm really confused as to why the Chromecast does.

ok, good to know that I was not the only person with the issue. At the end I gave it up, bought a WIFI repeater to get 5GHz connection to the Google stick and now everything is fine.

Thank you for helping out on this thread, RXShorty!

Hey there Zale,

I'm just checking up on this thread, there was another thread with a similar Ethernet issue, and they are claiming the most recent Google TV update resolved the problem. Would you be able to update your Chromecast with Google TV and let us know if the problem persists?

Best regards,
Jeran
