The Google Assistant button on my Chromecast with Google TV remote does not summon the assistant, even though the device is linked to my account (via Google Home) and the required permissions have been granted. Tried changing the Assistant settings directly through my account on my phone (via the Home app and the browser), restarted the device multiple times, and unlinked and re-linked the device to my account to no avail, factory resetting my device is my last resort if this cannot be solved through other means. If anyone has an idea of what might be the issue, please let me know.

With the assisstant button you need to hold it while speaking, have you done that ?
If that doesn't work, a factory reset of the Chromecast may be in order (you can reset the remote only but I doubt that will do anything).

Yes, I hold it as it’s supposed to. I guess I’ll just factory reset my device. Bummer.

Luckily the factory reset isn't too painful , not as easy as a traditional Chromecast but still not too bad. Please let me know if the reset fixes the issue

I performed a factory reset as a last resort, that fixed the issue.
