Google tv remote setup

I wanted to setup the remote to work with my daughters tv. The problem is that the manufacturer isn't on the list. Is there any way else to set it up?

Hi Ole77,

Thanks for reaching out to Google Nest Community.

Let’s get this sorted out. Just to check, what’s the make and model of your daughter’s TV? Were you able to complete the Chromecast device setup on this TV?

Best,
Alex

Yes the setup of Chromecast with Google TV was done without problems. It's only getting the remote to work with this specific TV that doesn't work. I have 2 other devices that i have also set up so i have been through the process before. But those were on a Sony and a LG tv so they we super easy to find the remote setting for.

I don't remember the model of my daughters TV but the make is Blaupunkt which isn't on the list. What i have done so far is look at manufacturers of universal remotes to see which code they have for Blaupunkt. Then i looked for that code in their manual to see which other brands uses the same code so i could try to pick that brand on my Google TV. I tried all the brands that had the same code as Blaupunkt. No luck.

Hello Ole77,

Thanks for the information. It looks like this is already a limitation from Blaupunkt’s settings. However, you can try the recommended answer from this thread.

We're always looking for ways to improve our product, and support more third-party devices — we'll take this as feedback. I also suggest that you send feedback by following this link. Let me know if you have other questions or concerns, otherwise I’ll be locking this thread after 24 hours.

How can it be a limitation from Blaupunkt when you can use several universal remotes with it? Shouldn't Google TV work in a similar way?

The "solution" from the thread listed is not really an option. It just allows him to control the volume but not turning the TV on and off.

Hi Ole77,

Did you contact your TV manufacturer? If you already tried the steps from the previous thread, then it would be best to get in touch with Blaupunkt about it. They might have community support just like this, where other users share ideas. There are hundreds and thousands of TV models from different manufacturers around the world. Please be reminded that the remote won’t be able to control the input, power, or volume of some devices and/or models. Either it may have a hardware limitation or there might be a platform incompatibility. You may have noticed that the remote may control one or two functions (volume, power, or input) but not all, which means that is as far as the control on the particular device/brand/model the Chromecast Voice remote can go. The remote is intended to control the Chromecast device. The controls for power, volume, and input are just an added feature. It grants convenience for the users by not using multiple remotes, but that doesn’t mean it has hardware similar to universal remotes. I strongly suggest that you send feedback. This way, our developers/engineers might coordinate with Blaupunkt (given that they coordinate with the team). As you said, it worked with your other TVs (LG and Sony), which means it’s working as intended. I hope this clarifies the confusion. Keep us posted.

Cheers,

Kimy
