Google tv

So I've had my Google tv for a few years now and have had zero problems with it till my remotes batteries became low and would get warning on screen.  Usually I'd dismiss it and promptly forget, which was fine till they actually died. thinking I would have to find out how I buy these special Google batteries went online and saw others having ones drained immediately lasting 7-10 days, and mine lasted close to 4 years not changing once.  So take out cute white batteries insert any AAA battery and should work just might have to restart the whole system and pair again.  Big deal I'm just curious if went out of way to create these batteries why don't they sell them anywhere??

Hi Alekia81,

The Chromecast with Google TV was released on September 30th 2020 and the included batteries are not special just wrapped in a matching colour as the device purchased.

They can be replaced with regular AAA batteries, I have already done this with one of my own remote controllers and it performs perfectly fine.

Hi folks,

Thanks for answering, Cathal_S. I appreciate it.

@Alekia81, just like Cathal_S mentioned, while these batteries are not sold anywhere else, the batteries used in the remote can be replaced using store-bought AAA 1.5 V alkaline batteries, such as Energizer AAA 1.5 V alkaline battery. [Note: Do not use lithium ion or any other batteries with rated voltage above 1.5 V. Also, please make sure to replace all batteries at the same time. Do not mix old and new batteries].

Thanks,

Jennifer
