Hey there everyone. I realize that we haven't heard back from the OP, but I wanted to provide an answer to @DaveM.

I was able to find 2 different ways to fix this.
Reconnect Again (Pairing)
It is quite an easy way to rectify the issue by removing and repairing the remote. Follow the steps below:
  1. Install Google TV Remote App on your smartphone.
  2. Then, using your phone to go into the Google TV Settings, and remove Remote.
  3. Pair the remote again with your Chromecast.
  4. That’s it.
Remove Batteries
It is another option to quickly resolve the issue and again start using the remote.
You need to pull out the cell battery in the remote for a few seconds. Then reinsert the batteries and press the back + home button to pair.
These are two different ways to resolve the Chromecast Google TV Remote freezing issue.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

How do you access the cell battery

Hello Bernwilliams111,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you tell us more about your concern so we can further assist you? Would you like to know how to remove the battery cover and the batteries in the Chromecast Voice Remote? If yes, please slide the cover forcefully. If it can't be removed, try the following steps below:

  1. Stick one end of a cellophane tape to the bottom of the back of the remote. Use the other end of the cellophane tape as a pull tab.
  2. Pull the end of the cellophane tape as you pressed into the circular dented surface firmly.

Thanks,

Jennifer
