Problem with casting audio from Pixel 6a

I for the second day I am no longer able to initiate casting audio from my Pixel 6a. I can still see all my devices but can't connect with any app - Google Home, Spotify, casting my screen - nothing. Casting from Chrome on my pc/ laptop works fine and once I have connected with my chromecast audio device I can control from my cell, but once I disconnect on the cell I can't reestablish. I have rebooted my cell, and chromecast audio. Please help.

That's definitely frustrating! Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to get casting audio working again from your Pixel 6a to your Chromecast Audio device:

1. Update Apps and Software:

  • Make sure your Google Home app, Spotify app (if using it for casting), and Pixel 6a software are all updated to the latest versions. Updates often include bug fixes and compatibility improvements.

2. Check Casting Permissions:

  • On your Pixel 6a, verify that casting permissions are enabled for the apps you want to use for casting (e.g., Google Home, Spotify). Go to your phone's Settings > Apps & notifications and find the apps you use for casting. Look for a section on Permissions and ensure casting is allowed.

3. Re-enable Location Services (Temporarily):

  • While casting typically doesn't require location services, some users have reported success by temporarily enabling location services on their Pixel 6a. Try turning on location services, attempt to cast, and then turn them off again afterwards.

4. Reset Network Settings (Last Resort):

  • This should be a last resort as it resets all your Wi-Fi connections, Bluetooth pairings, etc. on your Pixel 6a. However, if none of the above steps work, resetting network settings can sometimes resolve casting issues. Go to your phone's Settings > System > Reset options > Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth. Remember to back up your Wi-Fi passwords beforehand.

5. Factory Reset Chromecast Audio (Last Resort):

  • Similar to resetting network settings, this should be a last resort. Factory resetting your Chromecast Audio erases all its settings. Consult your Chromecast Audio manual or search online for specific instructions on resetting it.

Additional Tips:

  • Try restarting your router.
  • Ensure both your Pixel 6a and Chromecast Audio are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • If you have a mesh network, temporarily disable it and see if casting works on a standard Wi-Fi network.

By following these steps systematically, you should be able to identify and fix the issue preventing casting audio from your Pixel 6a to your Chromecast Audio device.

Regards,

Mario.

Restarting my router solved the problem. You might consider including this at the top of your list because it only too moments and the other things would have taken hours and still not worked. Thanks.

I have to add that I had to reset and re add all my audio devices (3) and groups. I was unable to re add until I rebooted my router.
