Unlink Photos Videos from Internal Chromecast Storage

Burke1_

Hi,

Looking for some help on what I think is a basic question but one I am really struggling to resolve.

I am near the max storage on my Chromecast and want to remove the 1.6gb that is listed under 'Photos and Videos' in the Internal Shared Storage settings page, but really do not know how to even after a lot of googling and searching this forum.

I have never uploaded photos or videos to the device so believe it must be linked to my google photos account but other than unlinking the device from my account completely I have no idea how to free up the space.

Nothing happens when I click Photos and Videos and on other peoples devices they all appear to have 0b listed against Photos and Videos so I am not sure why I have 1.6gb.

Please could someone advise on how to unlink just the Photos and Videos?

Thanks,

Burke

Hi @Burke1_

I don't know how to individually remove it. I will ask the others and try and find out though.

Do you use the photos for the Ambient mode? Try switching to Art Gallery in the settings.

You could also try a full factory reset. In the upper right of your TV screen, select your profile and then Settings .
Select System and then About and then Factory Reset.

Let us know if either of those steps help.

Hi JillG,

Thanks for the response, I do not use photos for Ambient mode and this has always been set to art gallery.

Im not super keen to completely reset the device and install all apps etc again so if you do find out an alternative from talking to others like you mention, then please let me know.

Thanks

Hello there,

Thanks for the help here, JillG and Jeran.

Burke1_, I'm sorry to hear that you're still having the same issue with your Chromecast with Google TV. Could you check if you downloaded an app that is related to photos and videos? If there are any, please uninstall it. Also, we understand that you don't want to reset the device, but resetting your Chromecast with Google TV to default settings is the next best step. Give it a try!

Thanks,

Jennifer
