Use voice assistant to open local channel on YouTube TV

Today I set up a Chromecast with Google TV and connected it to a YouTube TV account. While I can use Google Assistant on the remote to play certain live channels, asking for a local channel does not seem to work correctly. For example, “Play NBC” or “NBC Live” does not play the local affiliate- instead it plays the national “NBC News” Channel.

What is the magic incantation to get Google Assistant to play the local network channel? I realize it is simple to bring up the live guide as a workaround, but the voice assistant is was intended to be a dead-simple way for my elderly mother to play live TV.

I apologize for the late response, and thank you for being patient! Were you able to figure out that Google Assistant issue? If not, I'd be happy to help you figure it out. If you've already tried "Play NBC Live on YouTube TV," You can try being more specific by adding your local NBC channel's call sign. For example, NBC in Huntsville, Alabama, would be WAFF, and you could try "Play the WAFF channel on YouTube TV."
