Hi there!
I just purchased a Chromecast with Google TV HD thinking that I would be able to plug it directly into the HDMI ARC port on my little cheap bookshelf amplifier. (It's a Rockville BluAmp 90 if anyone is familiar and if it makes any difference)
I plugged the chromecast into a computer display so I could go through the set up steps. It is connecting to my wifi and everything seems to be working, but when I plug it into my stereo, I can see the device in google home and I can cast spotify to the chromecast, but I'm not getting any audio out. Is there something I'm missing, or am I just mistaken that this would work in the first place? Thanks! New to this stuff!

Hi @Carkl3000
My understanding is that the Chromecast with GoogleTV officially requires a TV. It doesn't separate the audio/video.
Maybe another community user can chime in and add any workarounds or things you can do to make it work.

Hmmm. Interesting. Hard to tell if that is saying that you must have a TV connected, or if it's just saying you have to have a TV with such and such specs on order for hd, 4k, or hdr to work properly.
I was really hoping I could find a way to add my little stereo to a multi room speaker group on the cheap. Oh well...

I take it to mean it needs the specs
Here is the info I have:
All Chromecast devices require a TV with High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) 1.3 or higher built-in. HDCP 2.2 is required to support 4K content. Most televisions that are 5 years old or newer and have HDMI ports will have at least one port that supports HDCP 2.2.

I see that there are hdcp 2.2 compliant audio extractors available. I think I'll try one of those before I give up.

Thanks both of you! It's been very helpful! I haven't been successful connecting from the extractor to the amp via HDMI-ARC, but I can get a signal through 2 channel RCA.
I was hoping to be able to control volume through Google home/assistant, but it seems like that might not be possible with my rigged up system...
But it works well enough for me! Sounds nice, too!
Thanks again!
Best,
Carl
