YouTube crashes on Google TV

Botahamec
Community Member

Hi. I know something similar has been posted before, but I seem to be unable to comment on it. On Google TV, if I open a video in YouTube, it crashes a couple of seconds into the video. I don't have anything connected to my Google TV. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. It's still broken. No other apps have this issue. Just YouTube.

Hello Botahamec,

Thanks for reaching out. What type of Chromecast with Google TV do you have, is it the 4K or HD model? When did the issue start? Is this also happening when you manually cast from the YouTube app to your phone to your TV? Please clear the cache and data of the YouTube app then, reboot your Chromecast with Google TV. Resetting your Chromecast with Google TV might also help.

If the issue is isolated when using the YouTube app, please reach out to YouTube support for additional help.

Best,

Jennifer

Hi Botahamec,

We haven't heard from you in a while so we'll be locking this thread if there is no update within the day. If you have any new issues, updates or just a discussion topic, feel free to start a new thread in the Community.

Regards,

Alex

Sorry. I didn't see any of the emails until now. It's a 4K model and it started as soon as I got it. It doesn't seem to affect manual casting, but I haven't used that feature too often. I've tried deleting and reinstalling the app and restarting my Google TV. It is isolated to the YouTube app, but I'm not sure where I would go for to get support specific to that.

Hello Botahamec,

Thanks for getting back to us. Please check for the app updates — see the steps below:

  1. On your Chromecast with Google TV 4K, search for 'Google Play Store'.
  2. When Google Play opens, at the top right, go to the profile icon.
  3. Select Manage apps and games > Updates > Update all.

If the issue persists, you can let the app developer know about this. Contact them here
