chromecast have disappeared from list - cannot set them up again after factory reset

I have factory reset my chromecast, as it could not be found by any devices or streaming apps suddenly yesterday.

I get through the setup stage and it appears to be connecting to the wifi - says connected then i immediately get the message "something went wrong Room TV may be set up but we could not communicate with it from your iphone.  Make suer that you have enabled local network access in your iPad's Privacy Settings. then try it again.

Of course privacy settings have not been changed since it was working yesterday.

Can anyone tell me why my chromecast has suddenly become undiscoverable.  Nothing has changed in wifi, phones, etc.

Hello fschoond,

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. Let's sort this out.

Quick questions: what type of Chromecast device do you have? What's the LED status on your Chromecast?

Give these steps a try:

  1. Reboot your Chromecast.
  2. Close and reopen the Google Home app.
  3. Use a different device (phone or tablet) to set up Chromecast.
  4. To make sure everthing is good, check the router's settings and the device's settings. See the information below:
    Router settings:
  • Multicast, Universal Plug and Play (UPnP), and Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) must be enabled.
  • If your router is running Domain Name System (DNS) software, enable the following public Google DNS IP addresses: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

            Device settings:

  • Disable or disconnect any Virtual Private Network (VPN) software.

       5. Check if you have internet firewalls or antivirus software enabled.

Hi there,

Understood. If you're not familiar with your router settings, you may refer to your router documentation or router manufacturer for assistance.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hey fschoond,

Got it. It would be best to get in touch with your router manufacturer or internet service provider so they can further assist you with this.
