Selecting the YouTube app through the remote it buffers for several seconds then buffers each time I select a YouTube video to watch. I was working fine a few days ago. Can it be a setting?

I found this online and it worked for me: reset as shown below. uninstalling and reinstalling the YouTube app didnt work but the YouTube reset did.
10 seconds delay issue!
Open the YouTube App, go to Settings > Reset app and press on "Reset app".
This will temporarily fix the loading issue.
Please note that you won't need to enter manually your Google Account again since this is saved on the Google
Update 2: If you switch back between 2 user accounts, the 10 seconds delay might return. You might need to repeat the process again until a permanent fix/update is found.

BTW, all the other apps work fine. I have tried resetting, powering off the Chromecast device, resetting the router and reinstalling the YouTube app.

If this was happening today then I noticed the same behavior on YouTube, not only on my Chromecast with Google TV but also on my Nvidia Shield. It could either be Network congestion or an app update that is causing it. My suggestion would be to send feedback through the app so the devs can be aware and look into it.

Me too I have two Chromecast with Google TV and they're both acting the same way I thought I put a post earlier today but I can't find it but everything else is working fine my computer is working fine my phone is working fine it's just the Chromecast with Google TV. Every video I try and load takes about 10 seconds

Because it's on both my Nvidia shield and Chromecast with Google TV but not my regular Chromecast I suspect this is an issue with Android tv os or the app for Android TV OS.

On my Google Chromecast with Google TV I don't experience the same issues, like buffering for a long time, although from time to time it buffers on certain videos, but no more than half a second.
It may very well be a network congestion problem, especially this time of year.

As long as you asked it's not on this topic but there's little literally no information on when updates will be coming out do you know if this item will be going to Android 12? Or if there's going to be an update coming soon

Hey there mjuneau,
I'm sorry to say, but I don't have any news on any updates. I would keep on eye on the Nest Community Chromecast Forums as the Community Managers are good about posting updates on the devices.
I'm sorry I couldn't have been more useful, but if you had any more questions, I'd be happy to address them.
Best regards,
Jeran
