chromecast doesn't play with other devices

never ending issues with Chromecast w/ google TV. I have a Logitech Harmony Universal remote that  is able to create commands by capturing the signal from the original remote!  Amazing! And yet Google doesn't allow for this because of the proprietary remote. Chromecast has difficulty working with other devices. I have an LG 4K tv and it should be an easy thing to set up the Harmony to handle both the LG controls and the Chromecast controls, but again, because of Google's proprietary  technology, it doesn't work with the LG TV. So, as long as I never use the Chromecast I am happy - my Harmony remote syncs up with my LG TV, Home Theater, Blu Ray play, video game consoles - everything!! Everything except the Google Chromecast.

I found the three IR options for Volume, Power, and Input (enter). Here's why they don't work:

1) Volume - my Harmony remote already handles the Volume for my home theater seamlessly. So I don't need this option

2) Power - the chromecast never powers off, at all. so this button is not used at all. My remote can already power off the TV, home theater, and blu ray play, so I don't need this option.

3) Input - completely useless without the ability to navigate the menus! So even though this option lets me run an app on my chromecast with google TV, it is completely useless without being able to select the app I want to run.

Here is what I need to be accessible through IR:

a) Movement: Up, Down, Left, Right

b) Back

c) Home

Without these IR options (completely software driven) I am forced to use the original remote, completely negating my reasons for choosing the Logitech Harmony.

Google, please update the Chromecast with Google TV software/firmware/whatever to provide Up, Down, Left, Right Back, and Home as IR.

I'll second that. Google, please update the Chromecast with Google TV software/firmware/whatever to provide Up, Down, Left, Right Back, and Home as IR.

Hey there xucaen,

I apologize about the late response, thank you for being patient! I know this is a feature that I personally would also like to see. If you have the time, would you be willing to submit feedback via the Google Home app or Google TV to let Google know that this is something you'd like to see implemented?

I'm sorry I couldn't have been more help, but if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

Hey xucaen,

I'm just here to follow-up if you had any other questions, since we've already established that submitting feedback is the best way to let Google know what features you would like to see implemented.

Thank you,

Jeran

Hiya xuecaen,

I understand your concerns and frustrations, I really do. Submitting feedback as stated previously would be the best way to give us that information so that our team can start investigating specific issues and feature requests. I wish I could do more for you!

Best regards,

Jeran
