chromecast help

i dont know which gen i have . when i get to the end of setup it says cannot connect restart router. i did this 4 times. can someone help me get this working. thank you.

Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the late response. Let's sort this out. 

 

Quick questions — is this an initial setup or working previously? If it’s working previously, have there been changes to the router settings/network?

 

Give these steps a try:

  • Adjust the settings of the setup device: Turn on Location Services (Android) and Turn on Bluetooth and Local Network Access (iOS).
  • Uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app.
  • Manually connect to the Chromecast SSID. Here's how: Go to the phone’s Settings > Open Wi-Fi and connect to the Chromecast SSID (Example: Chromecast1234, Living Room TV, Bedroom TV, etc.) > Go to the Google Home app and try to set up again.
  • Try a different setup device.
  • Reboot your router, Chromecast and mobile phone.
  • Factory reset the Chromecast.
