chromecast remote

I have tried multiple attempts to reset my remote, new batteries, hard resets and nothing. Once I put the new batteries in the remote it got extremely hot. I do not think that the remote works anymore. Any suggestions as to what to do. Can I just buy a replacement remote? Thanks for your help!

I would only suggest trying a totally different brand of batteries.  I recently had trouble with a device that I tracked down to a defective box of batteries.

You may also check to see if you can get a free replacement if you are still under warranty.

And, you marked you had a 2nd Generation Chromecast device.  That's not true.  If you have a remote you have one of the "Chromecast with Google TV" models.  That will be important to know if you try to get a warranty replacement.
