Assistant voice keeps reverting to default

In the last few weeks, my assistant's voice, which I have set to one of the male voices, will randomly switch to the default female voice. It has happened on several devices, but most frequently on a newer hub. This is not only annoying, but there are mental health reasons my family uses the male voice, and this is having a negative impact on family members.

Hi Effyou,

That certainly isn't the experience we want you to have with your Nest device, especially if it's affecting some of your family members ― let's check it out. A few questions: what troubleshooting steps have you done so far? What Nest Hub do you have? It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first.

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes tops.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

After the sequential reboot, let's choose your desired Google Assistant voice:

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app.
  3. At the top right, tap your account.
  4. Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap the triangle next to the Google Account, then tap another account or Add another account.
  5. Tap Assistant settings > Assistant voice.
  6. Choose a voice.

Monitor and keep us posted.

Best,

Dan
