Automations Down?

jonesyjay

Multiple things gone completely haywire for my Google Home Automations today.

My workday automation that usually works absolutely fine didn’t run at all today. No history in the Google Home Activity page that it failed or was recognized. My husband noticed the time and asked one of our Nests “what time is it” and it told us, so it is connected to internet and working just fine. All of our devices are.

I played around with making a copy of the same automation, and noticed there are some funky things going on. On my regular automation, I only have it set to run on weekdays. When I make a copy, it forces me to also choose a time on weekdays? I have no idea why. Each section of the automations has a time/schedule for the actions to run, it makes no sense to force a general “time” for no reason.

Unable to create a new automation at all.

Unable to contact support.

Hi jonesyjay,

Thank you for reaching out to our community! I understand that your Google Home automation failed to run and that the Google Home app is currently preventing you from creating new ones or effectively copying old routines, even though your Nest Devices are clearly connected to the internet. I know how difficult it is when your automations do not respond as expected, especially when you are unable to reach the Google support team. I appreciate you sharing these specific details, such as the missing activity history and the screenshots, to help me better understand the situation. I'm happy to look into this for you.

To help me narrow down the issue, please answer the following:

  • Are you using the latest version of the Google Home app? If not, this Google Nest Help Center article provides helpful instructions: Update the Google Home app.
  • Are you using an iPhone or an Android device to control your Automation?
  • Is your smartphone’s operating system running the latest version?
  • Are you using third party devices in your automation?
  • Are your Google Nest Device’s firmware up to date? You can find this by following the steps in this Google Nest Help Center article: Find your device’s firmware version.
  • Is this a Personal or Household Routine?

Please keep me posted with those details; I am happy to provide further assistance once I have a bit more information.

Best regards,

Virna
