Bad Smoke Sensor

Received a notification that the smoke sensor in one of my Nest Protect is bag. I tried cleaning the sensor area with an air duster with no success.. The protect is only 2 1/2 t=years old. So I guess I'm out of warrenty. I thought these were good for 10 years. Trying to call nest is useless. So what are my option. If its a bad smoke sensor to me that is a manufactures defect is thees thing are good for 10 years.
