Belangrijk: Als je wilt casten op een Mac-computer met macOS 15 of hoger, moet je Chrome toegang geven in je systeeminstellingen.

Hoe kan ik dit doen op mijn macbook?

Hi anderlecht,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I appreciate your question asking for instructions to enable the Google Chrome browser to cast from a Mac computer running MacOS 15 or later. You are in the right place to get the answer you’re looking for.

Please follow the next instructions:

  1. Make sure you’re using a recent version of Google Chrome (version 72 or higher).  Learn how to update Google Chrome, if needed.
  2. Connect the computer and Chromecast device to the same Wi-Fi network. Learn how to check the Wi-Fi network of the Chromecast device.
  3. Check if the local network is allowed for Google Chrome. Here you have the instructions:
  • On your MacBook, open System Settings.
  • Select Privacy & Security, then go
  • Local Network. You’ll find Google Chrome in the list of apps.
  • Turn on Local Network for Google Chrome to allow access to your network. This will allow permissions for your device to discover Cast-enabled devices.

Thanks for your kind attention; I will be looking forward to your answer.

Best regards,

Virna

Hi eefje,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to know that the Google Chrome browser on your MacBook is still not showing the casting option, even though the local network is enabled for the Google Chrome browser. But no worries; it is my pleasure to continue assisting you to find the solution.

Based on the information you have provided, I will recommend you check the following conditions on your MacBook:

  • Is there any installed antivirus, security, or firewall software on your MacBook that could be blocking the streaming tool?
  • When you open the Google Chrome browser, can you see any alert symbol or message?
  • To cast on a Mac computer with Mac OS 15 or later, you must give Chrome access in your system settings.
  • Please confirm if you can perform the following instructions:
    1. On your MacBook, open the Google Chrome browser.
    2. At the top right, select More (the column with the 3 dots), then go to “Cast, save, and share,” then select “Cast.”
    3. Select the cast receiver you want to use. (If the device is already in use, the current content is replaced).
    4. To end the cast, on the right of the address bar, select “Cast” (the blue square icon) then “Stop casting.”.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Virna
