HAVE A VIZIO SMARTCAST TV, AND WAS ALWAYS ABLE TO CAST TO IT FROM MY CHROME BROWSER. one day, it just stopped and i would get a no devices found message. I have tried everything suggested as far as rebooting, re setting, nothing works so it must be the rarest of the rare issue. anyone have an idea what else it could be? so frustrating

Hi BOOMO,
Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. Let's sort this out.
Quick questions: Does your Vizio TV have a built-in Chromecast or is there a separate Chromecast dongle plugged into your TV? Can you cast videos from the Chromecast-enabled app?
Try these steps:

Hi BOOMO,
Thanks for getting back to us. Have you checked if there's no pending updates on your Anti-virus or on the OS of your laptop or computer? Have you tried the steps listed on the support website article I've included in my previous response? If you haven't yet, please try the steps.
Also, if you don't have a separate Chromecast dongle and only have a TV with built-in Chromecast, please reach out to your TV manufacturer for additional help.
Thanks,
Jennifer

dont know what a dongle is. all i know is when i 1st got my HP desktop 3 years or so ago, it cast to my vizio chromecast fine, for a good 2 years, and then one day it didnt. i have tried every single thing suggested to me that i am capable of doing. i feel unless a real expert actually comes to my apt, it wont get fixed. there has to be some small thing that no one thinks to try unless they are actually here to try it. i do so appreciate your responses. oddly i have a much older, 6 years, laptop that still casts fine to it.
