I have a Bose smart speaker that I USED to be able to include in speaker groups within Google Home. I was forced to upgrade Google Home and subsequently add my Bose speaker using Bose Music. Now, I cannot add that speaker to any speaker groups (it is not listed when setting up a group). It is listed as a speaker device in Google Home. If I unlink it from Bose Music, it then will no longer show up as a device in Google Home. Please help me resolve this issue.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for visiting the Google Nest Community.
Speaker groups containing non-Google speakers or Cast-based devices may not work properly in speaker groups if they don’t receive a software update. You may notice that those devices don’t play audio, or be added in a speaker group. Third-party Cast devices like soundbars with Chromecast built-in will need to be updated to Cast firmware 1.52.272222 and above.
Note: Not all device models will receive software updates. As a result, they may no longer work in speaker groups.
Refer to the Find your device's firmware version help center article for how to find a device’s firmware version using the Google Home app.
Regards,
Alex

Maybe it was a Bose update, in Bose App select your speaker, select Enable More Features, enable Chromecast Built-in. I had same issue bringing me here.

That was the solution. Works now.

Mine were working for months the way they should and then for no apparent reason the Bose smart soundbar 600 with Chromecast built in just stopped working with all the other Google speakers in a group. This was about a month ago and I haven't been able to get it to play within the group since. Cast firmware is 1.68.cast_20230721_0201_RC09.549871846.

Mine will play by itself but not in a group. Why?

What kind of group are you setting up? To add it to a Google home audio group first open in your updated Bose App, select your speaker, select Set up More Features, select and enable Chromecast Built-in. Once chromecast is enabled you can add the Bose speaker to a speaker group in Google home.

Exact same problem here. My Bose 900 soundbar will play by itself through Chromecast but not in a Chromecast group! The Cast firmware is 1.68.cast 20230721 0201 RC09.549871846, which is above 1.52.272222. Really need a solution for this as it is so frustrating that it cannot play in group...
