Hi everyone,

Thanks for your posts. I understand the situation you're experiencing with your Wemo devices and their connection to the Google Home app. Don't worry; help is here. The best recommendation would be to try reconnecting your Wemo devices to the Google Home app. Here's how:

  1. Delete the Wemo devices from the Google Home app.
  2. Set up your smart home devices by following the steps provided by the device maker (Wemo).
  3. Connect smart home devices in the Google Home app:
    1. Open the Google Home app.
    2. Tap Devices > Add > Works with Google Home.
    3. Select the device maker from the list.
    4. To complete the setup, follow the in-app steps.

After that, check if the issue persists the best option would be to contact the manufacturer of your devices.

Best regards,

Jenny

Clearly the APIs are having an issue connecting services.

That didn't work keep getting Could not connect to WeMo please try again later

Hello, my devices are removed from the app and I disconnected wemo from Google. Now I cannot reconnect wemo to my home. Thank you, John

Doing that comes back with the following message : Could not reach wemo. Please try again. From within the Wemo app or states that I am connected. Seems to be a Google Home issue connecting to Belkin Wemo services through the backend.

Hi Danzeword,

Thanks for your post and for the detailed information. Please try the following steps to resolve the situation:

  • Restart Your Device: A simple restart can often clear temporary glitches.
  • Clear the Google Home App cache and data just if you have the Android operating system on your phone.
  • Uninstall and Reinstall the App: This can fix problems with a corrupted app installation.

Please try again and let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Jenny

Thanks for the note.

But this has been going on for over a month. During this time I've actually changed phones twice also, so caches and reinstallations have been done. I went from a Pixel 6 Pro to a Pixel4 temporarily and now have a Pixel 9 Pro. Again, I was able to control by using my voice, but would get a message stating that it's unreachable but would still work. In the Home app, all of Wemo devices were grayed out and couldn't be triggered. But the Wemo app showed them all working and were available in the Belkin app. I tried the reconnect option first for the past few months and was getting the same message as above. Only this week I decided to delete the connection... Well now I can't add it anymore and voice commands have now stopped working.

Please let me know if there is anything I can provide. Thank you

Hello, any news on the issue.

This is not an app issue but the connector between Google and Belkin.

If this is now unsupported by Google please share the information. Thank you

Tried again today and the issue still persists.

I tried the drastic uninstall/reinstall of Google Home, and a restart.

Still, comes back with the following message : Could not reach wemo. Please try again. . Seems to be a Google Home issue connecting to Belkin

They refuse to tell you wemo has stopped their support with Google.  Just like with Alexa last year.   They have about 500k devices they need to sell in inventory before closing the business so they won't ever say they are not supported any more until it's too late.  I bought 30 of them 5 years ago and have been going through this for the past 8 months.  No idea why Google doesn't come clean with us though.  I guess tech companies cover for each other.

Thanks for the info. I'm slowly getting away from all this smart device thing through Google Home as the devices do not understand basic commands anymore. Their AI is dumber than the Google assistant from 5 years ago. "Turn on front porch" is understood as "direction to the porch" why??

I'll just use the Wemo app like I just use the cync app, etc... Was a good 10 years of automation but walking to a light switch is better.

Thanks

I have wasted thousands of dollars on Google products and that is coming to an end. After I spent thousands of dollars on their home security system and cameras, they stopped supporting the security system and it became a brick. Now they're doing it to all my smoke detectors as well, they stopped making them and supporting them. Google products used to be awesome and now they are just garbage

Glad to see I’m not the only one. Obviously the Wemo app continues to work fine, but the Google Home app is completely broken. I wish someone would actually come out and say if Wemo is discontinuing support for their Google Home integration, or it’s a lack of willingness to fix something broken on Google’s side. Either way, this is a lot of money down the drain.
