Cannot find nest in google hub

When I try to hook up my google doorbell to my google hub it doesn’t give me the option to select a nest device to connect it when I select works with google. Is there a way to get it to show up so I connect them?

@Njeske

If your Google Nest doorbell and your Google Nest Hub are installed in the same Google Nest "home" in the Google Home app, you shouldn't have to do anything to "hook" them up or "connect" them. And the "Works with Google" option doesn't even apply; that's for getting non-Google devices to work with Google Nest. If you say "Hey Google, show the Front Door" to your Nest Hub it should stream the camera for the "Front Door" doorbell (or whatever name you assigned), for example, and if you turn on "Visitor announcements" on the doorbell, you should get a visitor announcement on your Nest Hub when the doorbell button is pressed.

My google doorbell had to be installed on the nest app because it is wired. I can get the camera up on the google hub but it will not show me a notification when someone rings the doorbell even if I have turned on the visitor announcement. I tried YouTubing it and they said to link the item from the nest to the google home app to get it on my google hub but I don’t have the option to do that.

If the Nest Hello Doorbell and the Nest Hub are in the same Google Nest "home" you should get visitor announcements unless the Nest Hub is set to Do Not Disturb under Notifications & Well-Being in Settings for the Nest Hub.

Can you see both the Nest Hello Doorbell and the Nest Hub in your Google Nest "home" in the Google Home app?

Are you able to stream the doorbell's camera to the hub by saying "Hey Google show the [Garage Doorbell]"?

Our own Nest Hubs work with our Nest Hello doorbells because they are in the same Google Nest "home".

I tried adding the google hub to the nest app but it says I have to add it to the google home app. I tried adding the doorbell to the google home app but when I try to add it with new devise it will only add the battery doorbell and tells me I have to add it through the nest app if it’s the wired doorbell but on a video I watched they said that I can add it into the google home app if I set up the devise using the “works with google” option and then search the nest app to link it to the google home app it does not have the option to link it shown in the first photo I sent in my first request. I am able to ask my google hub to show me the front door but it will not notify me when someone is at the front on the google home unless I link the doorbell to the google home which I am having trouble doing.

@Njeske

Our Google Nest Hello Doorbells (wired) were added in the Google Nest app, to the same Google Nest "home" or "structure" that we're using in the Google Home app, where we added our Nest Hubs. That's the way it works. It's the way Google Nest set it up.

The "Works with Google" option is NOT used to get a Nest Hello doorbell to work with a Nest Hub.

Does the "home" shown in the Google Nest app where your Nest Hello doorbell is have the same name as the "home" in the Google Home app where your Nest Hub is?

If you can ask your Nest Hub to show you your front door Nest Hello, then it seems they are linked together, and you should get "Visitor announcements" if you've enabled them in Settings for the Nest Hello in the Google Nest app, UNLESS your Nest Hub is set to Do Not Disturb.

Do you sign onto the Google Nest app with the same Google (gmail) account and password that you use for the Google Home app?  Are the Nest Hello and the Nest Hub on the same Wi-Fi network?

They all have the same name, Wi-Fi and google account and the notifications are both on. But still only get notified on my phone.

@Njeske

I don't know why it isn't working for you. We have "Visitor announcements" turned on for our "Side Door" Nest Hello doorbell (see screenshot) and we get notifications on our Nest Hubs. "Do Not Disturb" is NOT turned on for any of our Nest Hubs (see screenshot). In the Google Home app, we can see our Side Door Nest Hello doorbell AND our Nest Hubs. We've never used "Works with Google".

Hi folks,

We appreciate your efforts here. No worries, we’ll check this out. Going over the steps here might help:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap another account or Add another account.
  3. Verify that the home listed is the one you want to pair your security camera to. To switch between homes, click the triangle to the right of the home name.
  4. At the top left, tap Add Set up device plus Works with Google.
  5. Choose your camera manufacturer from the list to finish the setup process.

For your reference have a look at this guide: Stream your security camera using your Google Nest display.

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks,

JT
