Cannot use Nest Thermostat E humidity sensor to trigger an automation

While the Nest Thermostat E has a humidity sensor, and the humidity can be seen in the Google Home app, I cannot get automation to use that as a trigger. 

I want to be able to turn on a dehumidifier in my basement when humidity increases to a high level. 

I do not have central air; the thermostat only controls baseboard radiators running on a propane furnace. The thermostat has only Red and W1 wires.

While the Nest Learning Thermostat (2nd and 3rd generations) offers humidity control options that can be adjusted via the Google Home app or the Nest app, these automated dehumidifier settings are not available for the Nest Thermostat E. For your model, any dehumidifier operation would need to be controlled manually.
