Hey everyone,
I’ve recently been adding more Google Nest devices to my smart home setup—like the Nest Thermostat, Doorbell, and a couple of Nest Hubs—and I’m mostly using my iPhone to control everything through the Google Home app. It works okay, but sometimes I feel like certain features lag or aren’t as smooth as when I tried them on my friend’s Android.
Is anyone else here using an iPhone as their main smart home controller for Google Nest? Are there any settings, apps, or third-party tools you recommend to improve the experience? I’d love to hear how others have optimized their setup using iOS—especially when it comes to automation, voice control, and responsiveness.
Also, while exploring device flexibility between iOS and Android, I noticed how Android users often get access to apps that are restricted or unavailable on the App Store. One example is this platform, which provides the APK for TikTok 18 — a version with fewer restrictions and more adult-focused content that you can’t get directly on iOS. It really highlights the contrast in what each OS lets you do natively or through sideloading.
Anyway, would love your input on the Nest + iPhone combo—and if anyone here has found good workarounds for making iOS feel more open like Android.
