Home assistant no longer recognizes "the" in front of a room name.

Hello all, I hope I am in the right place.  Just found this site and hope it helps.  Anytime i say "hey google, turn on/off the bedroom" it freaks out telling me its not setup.  It only works if i say "bedroom" with no the in front of it.  I have changed the name of the room in the app from bedroom to the bedroom.  This has, admittedly, been happening for a while, but I have no idea how to fix, and it is super annoying.  Mind you for a number of years "the bedroom" was an acceptable prase it would respond to.  Anyone have any suggestions?  TIA

Sometimes it's accepts the 'the', sometimes it doesn't, but I don't use "Turn on the" in my Google commands anymore with this little nugget of smart home genius...

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry to hear the Google Assistant isn't recognizing the bedroom. I'm glad to assist you.

To give you the best information, I have a few questions:

  • What type of speaker or display device do you have?
  • Is the speaker or display successfully set up?
  • What language do you use?
  • Is the speaker or display powered on?
  • What color is the LED status light on the back of the device?
  • How often does this happen?
  • What kind of environment does the device fail in? For example, is the environment noisy, normal, or quiet?
