Chromecast offline

My two chromecats have been malfunctioning since yesterday around 5 or 6pm EST.  On both I receive the same message:”UNTRUSTED DEVICE

chromecast TV couldnt be verified.  This caused be caused by outdated device firmware.”  Unbelievable!!  Please help Google. This is crazy to leave so many of us without service.

 

Hi everyone. So I have youtube tv.  (That is what I really wanted to watch.). I was able to cast youtube tv from my Iphone through my Samsung tv.  First, I had to change my network settings on my Samsung tv to wireless, then found my wireless network/router, chose it and entered my password.  Then, I went to my youtube tv app on my iphone, pressed the chromecast icon and then chose Samsung TV (instead of one of my chromecast nicknames) and voila it worked.  Google still needs to fix this HUGE problem with chromecast though!  Good thoughts and good luck for everyone and hope you can at least bypass chromecast for now to be able stream your shows!

Quick solution that worked for me, no harm in trying! UNINSTALL GOOGLE HOME APP!

This fix discovered today when my daughter streamed disney channel from her phone to my chromecast, and guess what ?...she does not have the Home app, just signs in to my subscription accounts, because shes connected to my internet. Makes sense, thats how the internet recognises us through our wi fi or internet address. So I deleted the app and Hey Presto! If it doesnt work for you no problem, just reinstall...if it works please share everywhere!

I am having the same issue with my chromecast. Some issue with trust and authentication. Tried so many things reboot restart even completely reset my chrome. Tv recognise it but does not wants to connect with my phone

Same here. Thankfully, for me, these days it is background noise in my home. Until quite recently it needed to be essential availability for children I cared for. My heart goes out to those who need functioning connectivity, not this ridiculous hiatus in service.

Mine says it could not be authenticated. Same day and time mine also stopped working.

The same happens here. I have the same message. It looks Google deactivated all Chromecasts to us by a new one. This is obscene, this is programmed obsolescence.

If this is the case some honest information would be good, and maybe warning that my perfectly functional technology is about to glitch because someone decided this somwhow, and not because it is munted and needs upgrading or replacing. This kind of service does not encourage my loyalty.

Agreed, this very frustrating. I don't want to update to a different model...I want the one I own to work correctly. How can YouTube not trust a Google device? Forcing obsolescence on us is a class action lawsuit in the making.

I have the same problem. Today I start the my Chromecast share from YouTube and the response is that my firmware is obsolete. 

you can't deactivate devices without giving any information to users who have spent money over the years.

So this is a global issue? I’d like to locate a statement from google, or the google home app? 
come on google you can inform us better than this.

i hope you can sort it and get them back online soon, or is the the new light bulb conspiracy?

Bob I don't know if that is a world problem, or related only to certainly devices. Yesterday my Chromecast was working fine, but today it's not possible share. The problem is from YouTue abd Netflix. I try to reset the device but in the next time I'm not able to reconfigure by Google home

Set the date on your device to before 08/03/2025 (e.g 07/03) and you will be able to reinstall Chromecast via Google home. You still won’t be able to cast as apparently it needs a fix from Google.

Boa noite, infelizmente os dois Chromecast pararam de se comunicar com o smartphone, com a tv ele se comunica. Se isso que o Google home fez foi intencional, é muita baixaria, não deu aviso prévio, simplesmente bloqueou. Lamentável para uma empresa gigante como o Google.

I'm having the same issue, just stopped working out of the blue. Chromecast still boots up and goes into ambient mode but won't let me stream anything and shows offline on the Home app. Tried to restart the device, my router, my phone yet still nothing connects.

it is a worldwide problem, Im in new zealand and having exactly the same problem at exactly the same time. The google home app  is broken because it wont even allow mirrorcast from my phone. I selected the "no" box  as in no their suggestions didnt help, in every forum on every google help page I could find and suggested they send out a global notification so millions of users arent having anxiety attacks due to the frustration the issue has caused. Digital devices have bugs now and then...accepted, but NOTIFICATIONS is Googles BIGGEST failure. Come on google...you're only a giant because of all us wee folk!

Also in New Zealand spent numerous hours reseting and reloading everything but still no luck. Device is found but yet it says authentication issue see chromecast.com for troubleshooting.  Irreverent as I have already tried rebooting etc.

Same here, but I did a web search and found the following answer; apparently there is some sort of "certificate" problem on Google's end, they are working to fix it, and we just have to wait...

One of our Chromecasts is working and  another is having this exact issue. I've tried so many resets.

Reset your problem chromecast by setting your phone date back to march 8th and set chromecast back up then change your phone date back, chromecast still wont work but its now ready to go. Heres my fix...  Uninstall the home app ...its only recognising 1 device in your home group...hence only 1 working caster. Works fine without the home app, casting directly from your subscriptions as usual. Hope this helps, please share if it does. Good luck

Great that everyone disgruntled has gotten the message through to google and they are working to fix, heres hoping they will learn that they can't mess with our gear and should at least broadcast a courtesy message within the home app...woulda saved a whole lotta stress!

Fixed for a few days and now not working again. Beyond frustrated with google
