Creating and editing device groups

robmw

Hi everyone. I’ve set up some device groups in the Google Home app (eg. “Kitchen Lights”) to control multiple smart plugs in one go. Now I want to edit/rename the groups but I can’t see any way to do this in the Google Home app. I also can no longer see how you even create new device groups  any more. I can see Speaker Groups fine, but with this question I’m referring to the ability to group other devices. If anyone has any ideas on this, your help would be much appreciated!

Hi,

You can edit or rename your device groups in the Google Home app by following these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app on your device.
  2. Tap on the device group that you want to edit or rename.
  3. Tap on the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
  4. Here, you should see the option to edit or rename the device group. If you want to rename the group, simply type in the new name and tap Save. If you want to edit the group, you can add or remove devices by selecting them from the list of available devices.

To create a new device group, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app on your device.
  2. Tap the plus sign icon in the upper-left corner of the screen.
  3. Select "Create speaker group or other group".
  4. Choose the devices that you want to include in the group and give the group a name.
  5. Tap Save.

If you're still having trouble with editing, renaming, or creating device groups in the Google Home app, you can try updating the app to the latest version or contacting Google support for further assistance.

Thanks.

Thanks for your help! In my Google Home app, I only have “Create speaker group” and no option to create, for example, a light group. I’m on the latest version of the app (2.66.106). I’ll contact Google Support. Thanks anyway!
