Hi all,
so i recently got into the whole smart home thing. Connected my Ikea Smart- Lights to Google Home and this works absolutely fine.
To go a step further i bought several Nest Speakers. At the moment i have the following setup:
- Bedroom = 2 Nest Minis
- Bathroom = 1 Nest Mini
- Living Room = 1 Nest Audio + 2 Nest Minis (Desk)
- Kitchen = 1 Nest Mini
So far so good, on their own the speakers work fine but when i use them in groups or even stereo mode (in any configuartion) i constantly get dropouts.
Somewhere one or more speakers always shut down for a short time while streaming (Direct internet Radio over Wlan or Bluetooth Streaming) or all Nests turn off at once. Even on my Stereo-Pair (2x Nest Minis at my Desk, connected via Bluetooth to my PC) this happnes very often.
Its sooo frustrating cause i thought combining some simple Wlan Speakers would work properly but i cant benefit from the funktionality right now 😞 I wanted to use multiroom streaming or even the said stereo-pair use, but the nests dont work properly in this modes.
I now, there are several topics on this problem but wanted to open a new one, to get google aware of this problem, which seems to persists now for a longer time and doesnt got fixed (?).
I run everthing over the latest fritz box 7590 AX on a 100Mbit Internet connection and Wifi 5 setuped. My Appartment also isnt that big - i get good wifi connection in every room and there was never a problem with streaming on single devices, so it has to be the nest/home integeration.
I really hop someone or google can help and that i may enjoy my products at the intended usage in the future.
Regards

...in addition, i get massive time delays on the bluetooth signal to the minis-stereo-pair connected to my pc over bluetooth. Reconnection them helps for some short time but almost always theres approx 0.5-1 sec delay!
Cant be my bt transmitter (on my mainboard + antenas), because i ran another wireless speaker until recently which worked with no problems and delays.
😕

I think, as soon as the first drop outs happen (which often only takes some minutes), after connecting to my computer, the delay also starts to gets significantly longer and this could also be solved, as i mentioned, with reconnecting. But i dont see the point in reconnection every 15-30 minutes 😄
(i recognized even with a fresh connect the delay is several ms, so also at best, not very good)

Hi solid_mass,
Thanks for posting in the Community. We'd love to help.
If you haven't already, a sequential reboot for around three to five minutes would be a great help to re-establish the connection between your WiFi router and your Google Nest speakers. Also, ask your speaker to clear all Bluetooth devices before connecting it to your phone or laptop. You can check out this support article for more information.
Keep me posted.
Thanks,
Lovely

Hi,
and thanks for the replies!
As for the two Nest minis which i wanted to use in stereo mode connected via bluetooth to my computer, i skipped that:
Did several restarts of the two and uncountable bt-re-pairings but i never got a good experience. The delay was mostly absolutly terrible and there were constantly drop outs. Had to switch back to my old bt device for this use case unfortunately.
Nevertheless, i then incooparted the two minis (after complete factory reseting them - had to, because home didnt found them anymore) in my living room streaming setup and as i mentioned, for one room the groups work fine.
As soon as i use a groups which range over more than one room, there are still massive drop outs....didnt had the chance to restart all my speakers. What exactly is ment by "a sequential reboot for around three to five minutes"? - Go one by one and disconnect them from the outlet for 3-5 minutes? Maybe i can do this in the next days....is this a practice which actualy helped other users so far?

Hello solid_mass,
I'm just checking in with you to see if you've tried a sequential reboot already. Basically, it's just unplugging your WiFi router and your Google Home and Nest devices for three to five minutes before plugging them back in. Please tell me if the issue persists so we can try something else.
Thanks,
Lovely
