Do I really need two apps?

I’ve been a happy nest customer for quite a few years. I have four thermostats and five protects. So far sad o good. I just enclosed my screened porch and bought a fifth thermostat for that area. WTF! I cannot use the nest app for my new thermostat ant cannot use the google home app for my  nest protects. Seriously?! What hair-brained product manager let that happen?
I tell you what, when my smoke detectors reach 10 years of age, I will not be replacing them with more nest protects.

All new products and experiences are designed for the Google Home app. Although it may not be as fast as we would all like, Google continues to work on migrating products and features from the Nest app to the Google Home app, like the recent announcement that all models of Nest Cam can now be transferred to the Google Home app in Public Preview.
