Frustrated/Unhappy with my new 2nd Generation Wired Nest Doorbell/Cameras

Just had my two RING doorbell/cameras professionally removed (someone could be right in front of the door but it would record as if no one was there!)  Anyway, the electrician removed the RING (only a year old) and I had him  replace it with NEST 2nd generation, wired doorbell/cameras at both the back patio and front door.  The installation did NOT include setting it up on my cell phone or computer.  (Swell, didn't know that until he was through and I paid him!)

Well, through trial & error, I finally got the NEST camera/bell to work at the back door BUT on my COMPUTER's  image, there's no where to go back and show any past movement, history or events like it does on my cell phone.

AND, neither the doorbell or the camera works at the front door!  I'm too old to understand how to migrate so it could be something that simple but when I try to set it up I get a Google message that says I don't have a device or something like that.  I scanned its QR code just like I did for the back door but nothing works out front.  I've only tried loading it now about 150 times!!

These systems aren't cheap so, now, on top of the money I'm out for the previous RING system, it's installation AND removal, add to that, the cost of these two new NEST doorbell/cameras, their installation and now it looks like I'm going to have to pay someone to come and figure out why the front bell/camera won't work.  Yesterday I put a sign out front that reads:  This NEST doorbell doesn't work so yell "DING DONG" really loud.  The mailman got a chuckle out of it but me?  I'm an old angry customer unhappy with both brands!!

Oh, forgot to mention -- on that front doorbell/camera -- the blue light's on so it has been installed correctly, just no doorbell chime or viewing.

Hello ellisw,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen). Don’t worry; help’s here.

Since the status light on the device is blue, this means it’s in pairing mode and needs to be added to the Google Home app.

Please follow the steps below.

  1. Make sure the phone or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the selected network for the Nest device.
  2. Bluetooth should be enabled, but it should not be connected to any Bluetooth devices. Disconnect any Bluetooth devices paired to your phone, such as earbuds, smartwatches, etc.
  3. Cellular data should be turned off.
  4. On the iOS device, tap Settings > Privacy > Local Network and turn on Local Network Access for the Google Home app.
  5. Open the Google Home app Google Home app
  6. Tap Devices Add New Device .
  7. Choose the home you want to add your doorbell to, or select Add another home to create a new one. Then, tap Next.
  8. The app will try to look for nearby devices. If prompted, select the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) as the device you want to set up.
  9. Use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code on the back of the doorbell. You can also tap Continue without scanning and enter the numbers near the QR code.
  10. The app will help walk you through setup and installation.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Lance
