Gentle Wake up not working on TP Kasa lightbulb

Toviven

I recently bought a TP Kasa smart bulb that can be dimmed. I have a nest mini, and told Google to "turn on Gentle Wake up". Assistant confirmed it turned on for 2 lights.

I set my alarm on my nest mini, and went to sleep. When my alarm went off, the light didn't wake up or turn on at all.

If I tell my nest mini to wake up my light, it slowly begins to brighten.

Why won't "gentle Wake up" work, but only work with and respond to "wake (light name here)"?

Hi Toviven,

Thanks for reaching out. We'd love to help.

You need to sync Gentle Wake Up with the alarm that you created so the lights will slowly brighten or dim. Make sure to follow the voice commands in this support article.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,
Lovely

How do you do the sync? I already told my assistant "turn on gentle Wake up", and my lights don't wake up to any alarms I set.

Hello Toviven,

Make sure that the light bulbs and the speaker used for the alarm are in the same room in the Google Home app to sync the Gentle Wake Up. If not, say "Turn on Gentle Wake Up in <room name>".

Indeed, both alarms and bulbs are in the same room.

Hey Toviven,

Please try scheduling the Gentle Wake Up using this command, "Wake my lights at 6 AM." If the issue persists, move the Google Home device and smart lights to another room in the Google Home app. Here's the guide: open the app > Tap on the device icon > Choose Settings > Device information > Select Name to edit > Save.

Keep me posted.

Many thanks,
Lovely

Can confirm, the command "Wake 'insert light name here' at 'X time'" works. I just want to turn the feature on for every future alarm, instead of calculating 30 minutes before my alarm to tell assistant to wake my lights.

Wake my lights at time works, but turn on gentle Wake up doesn't, and that's what I want to work.

Hi again Toviven,

Thanks for the update. Please check if there's a Gentle Sleep and Wake option on the TP-Link Kasa app. Also, this feature only syncs with any morning alarm. I've flagged this to our specialist team so they can look at it closer.

Thanks,
Lovely

Sorry for the delayed reply.

There's no DIRECT Gentle Wake or sleep support, but there is scheduled fade in. However, that requires setting up times in their app, and my alarms are different every day. I just want to tell google assistant to schedule a MORNING alarm, and have my lights automatically fade in by Google assistant, not schedule every day in the TPKasa app.

Thank you for flagging it to the specialist team, I'm sure there are other users who would greatly benefit from gentle Wake up working for every future morning alarm set

Hey Toviven,

I'm waiting for your response to let me know if your TP-Link app has an option for Gentle Sleep and Wake Up.

Regards,
Lovely

I have the same issue, but with a Google Home and Hue lights in the same room. I'll try the troubleshooting steps.
